After working in our community for years as a firefighter, in 2024, Travis received a scary cancer diagnosis that was originally thought to be terminal.
The community came together for him and his family and after receiving treatment and seeking a new opinion, he was relieved to learn his cancer was treatable, but would require immunotherapy treatments every three weeks for one to two years.
Travis only received one treatment. Two days later, he ran the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot.
When he returned for a second treatment, he was told he would receive no more treatments because of how quickly the cancer responded. Instead, he later had the tumor surgically removed and has been cancer-free ever since.
Travis is now doing great and is grateful to his friends and neighbors for their support during such a difficult period of his life. Travis doesn’t want anyone, including his colleagues at the fire department, to have to wait to receive cancer screenings and is grateful for Dane’s efforts on their behalf.
